London Diary – 1st Christmas in UK – Part1 London

Dec 6, 2015

Thanks to Paula Morrison for the introduction to Christmas Carol Concert by Candle Light at Holy Trinity Church. The church is beautiful and concert was a great success. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Afterwards, we walked a few blocks along Brompton to where Harrods is. This is a busy tourist hot spot with many shops and restaurants. Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum are a couple of blocks away on the other direction of Brompton. Although many shops close earlier on Sunday, it was still bustling. Harrods was closed but we got to check out the window display.

OMG, another stunning discovery, England will never cease to impress. I joined a group of ladies for Downton Abbey Themed Christmas Luncheon at Moor Park. The house is grand and handsome. The interior? My jaw dropped as soon as I stepped inside, it is bewitchingly gorgeous!!
P.S. That car is one of those filmed in Downton Abbey.

London has been in the swing of things and lights and decoration for Christmas started to go up since early November. Numerous public and commercial area are decked up to the nine, infectiously festive and cheerful.

This time of the year, greyness seems to be the norm here. London does have other things to brighten up the day. Still the lights are so welcomed. In truth, some neighborhoods look prettier at night when the lights are on than the daytime.

In the meantime, I have noticed that residential neighborhoods are not as decorated as the way that I’ve been used to seeing in US, few lights can been seen outside the houses/flats. Having moved here recently and not being on ground floor, I myself have not put up any lights, but I have decorated the inside of course.

Here are some festive scenes in London.
